Merimbula Main Beach
Merimbula main beach situated on the fish pen is just a few minute walk from the heart of town. A perfect spot for boogie boarding or swimming for the family, this beautiful beach is protected from big swells and is patrolled during peak holiday season. In November each year, Merimbula beach also plays host to the popular Merimbula classic which brings SUP riders, wind surfers and kite surfers from all over Australia.
Spencer Park
Spencer park, which is located on Merimbula lake is shielded from the northerly winds and when on a low tide, it provides a great place for children to explore the water. The park provides hours of entertainment for children and is an ideal spot for BBQ’s and family picnics.
Bar Beach
Merimbula bar beach is situated at the entryway of Merimbula lake and provides access to boats that are coming in and out. Though the water is always flat and somewhat inviting, the outgoing current is strong and needs one to be more attentive especially with weak swimmers and small children.
Its BBQ facilities and a kiosk that offers fresh coffee, light meals and ice cream makes bar beach a favorite for both locals and holidaymakers.
The headland is ideal for a walk with your dog and gives you a chance to see small animals and even whales when they are migrating(in season). Another great feature of the bar beach is the large deck area which is a popular spot for weddings and photos. Whatever you want to do in Merimbula, you can never go wrong with Bar Beach!

National Parks and Nature
40% of Sapphire Coast’s land is made up of parks. The beautiful coastal tracks and the stunning bushwalking trails are the reasons as to why Sapphire Coast has been featured in the Tourism Australia Wilderness Coast.
Ben Boyd National Park is a beautiful national park situated on the Sapphire Coast which makes for a perfect bushwalking or camping site. The detailed rock formations, large areas of coastal heath and spotless beaches are some of the features that you can enjoy at this park.
Mimosa Rocks National Park, which is just a short drive from Bega, is named after the paddle steamer, Mimosa that wrecked in 1863 after it rammed into rocks on the northern part of the park. It offers a breathtaking national attraction that is made up of pure lagoons, quiet beaches and headland views.
The rocks at Mimosa have unique castle like features that are a result of faults, folds and intrusions that occurred in the rock over the years giving them a distinctive look.
Kangarutha Walking track, situated at the heart of Bournda National Park, offers a great view of the sea and give you a chance to watch the whales.
If you are not a fan of visiting parks, and you want to get out and enjoy nature to its fullest, you can also visit the Nethercote or Mumballa Falls, both of which provide a great day out and family fun at the swimming holes.
